Michael Laverty’s Predictions For The Year Ahead

Michael Laverty –  “For 2018 I have moved back to the Tyco BMW team, we had success together in 2015 and 2016 so we are looking to build on that this season. Being back with BMW has also opened the doors for me to race in World Endurance this year with the Penz13 BMW team who are currently 2nd in the World Championship. I will also be joining the BT Sport MotoGP panel as an analyst and co commentator, all in all it will be a busy and exciting season ahead. I’ve based myself in Spain once again this winter as part of my pre season preparation, riding bikes every week isn’t possible in the UK over the winter due to the weather. I’ve been down here with my MX, Supermoto, Mini and Push bikes, putting the miles in on them throughout January and February. I usually stay until late April however my schedule is quite busy in March and April so I’m currently loading up to drive home as I write this. I’ve just completed my first test back on the Tyco BMW Superbike in Cartagena Spain alongside many of our BSB rivals. Overall it was a positive test, I felt comfortable on the bike almost immediately following a few tweaks and my pace was competitive throughout. We now move back to the UK and test at the Donington park media day on the 20th of March, we will find out our true competitiveness there, in cooler conditions no doubt, as that can sometimes change the order of things”
